Onvio is cloud-based software for accountants and tax professionals. DT Max integrates with Onvio, allowing you to send forms and completed tax returns quickly and securely to your clients.

You can only use one cloud-based service, either Onvio or DT Client Portal, but not both at the same time. Each DT Max user can choose whether or not to use Onvio when using DT Max.

Note: Onvio is only available for 2015 and later tax years. To use Onvio, you must have already purchased this product.

Tax returns

Keep in mind that even if you choose yes, you can always choose not to send the tax return to Onvio at print time. For safety reasons, no is the default choice at print time, and the user must consciously choose to send the return.

Login credentials

Enter your Onvio staff email address, Onvio password, and Firm ID. It is generally not necessary to enter a proxy server address.
Note: The password will be saved encrypted in your personal preference file.

Before you save your changes, it is recommended that you click the Validate button to verify that the information that you have entered is correct.

Duplicate documents

You have three options for handling potential duplicates:

  • Overwrite the existing document.
  • Rename the current document and keep the old version.
  • Always ask.

If you choose to overwrite an existing document (via either the first or third option), please note that only the latest document will be overwritten. This is only applicable in cases where you have previously been renaming documents (via either the second or third option).

Client Centre access (T1 only)

If you enable Client Centre access for a client, that client will be able to login to Onvio. You can set the default behaviour for both adding clients and sending the client copy of the tax return. The former can be changed each time you add a client to Onvio. Both are only available for the T1, as only "Individual" clients can login to Onvio Client Centre.

E-signatures

By default, requests for e-signatures expire after 7 days, but this can be set to any value between 1 and 99 days.

For 2021 and later tax years, you can choose to have DT Max automatically save a local copy of electronically signed forms. This is in addition to the copy that is always saved to Onvio. You can do this for all form types or just the MR-69 form. DT Max can also be set to automatically link to the local copy of the MR-69 in the Data Entry keywords. This step is necessary if you wish to electronically submit the MR-69 form to Revenu Québec and it avoids you having to manually add it.

Onvio client list

Clicking the View the list of registered Onvio client accounts link will open a window showing you which of your DT Max clients already have Onvio accounts.
